Timberfolk Whales
A matte gouache illustration style with opaque flat colors and a warm, storybook feel.
Gouache illustration uses matte, opaque flat colors with visible brush strokes to create a soft, handcrafted feel. It suits family-focused campaigns, toy stores, and gift brands where warmth and a storybook aesthetic matter more than photorealism. In this example, wooden whale toys rest on a braided jute rug beside blank picture books, painted in a gentle palette of powder blue, mustard, and cream.
To make your own, describe a subject, a setting, and a warm color palette. Wavemaker prompts the scene as a clean, unlettered base illustration with soft edges and flat matte planes, leaving any headlines, logos, and buttons for a separate composition step.
